Spatially Dynamic Time-Series Animations of Raster and Vector Data Through ArcIMS

Web-based geospatial technology provides the means to enhance the decision making of natural resource managers and the education of natural resource users. This paper discusses the development of a web-enabled application that allows the temporal and spatial representation of raster, vector, and tabular data for natural resource processes and uses through spatially dynamic time series animations. Stakeholder needs for interactive browsing of spatial and temporal event data in the areas of strategic wildfire modeling, support of natural resource management, and natural resource conservation education, were met through the development of a database-driven, Java web server application in combination with ArcIMS and ArcSDE.
